The Karachi Port handled 146,908 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,147 tonnes of import cargo and 14,761 tonnes of export cargo including 4,416 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday The total import cargo of 132,147 tonnes comprised of 35,015 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,762 tonnes of general cargo; 41,308 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 50,931 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,761 tonnes comprised of 12,061 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,416 containers comprising of 2,438 containers import and 1,978 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,012 of 20's and 651 of 40's loaded while 2 of 20's and 61 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 299 of 20's and 202 of 40's loaded containers while 559 of 20's and 358 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Kota Karim, Wan Hai-506, Taroko, Tulip, Neo, Evita, Aurora Bulker and Hong Xing carrying containers, oil tankers, fertiliser and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. MOL Dominance, Wan Hai-511, MT Quetta, Front Dee, Daewoo Diamond and Thor Integrity carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Hyundai Freedom carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday while two ships namely MT Quetta and Daewoo Diamond carrying oil tankers respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There were four vessels viz. MSC Imma, OOCL Italy, A Idefix and SC Liaoning carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. MT Karachi, Xiu Chi, Deneb Leader and Liberty Fride carrying oil tankers and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 150,090 tonnes comprising 124,090 tonnes of import cargo and 26,000 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,249 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
As many as 3,249 containers comprising of 1,880 containers import and 1,369 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Otello and MT Okyroe carrying containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Truk Gas carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV Northern Jamboree, CV CMA CGM Otello, MV Fast, MV Tai Progress, MT Bochem Singapore, MT Maran Gaztroy and MT Okyroe currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as one ship namely CV Mehuin carrying containers was at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Mehuin and MT Lion-M carrying containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday. There is one ship namely CV San Francisco carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
