President Mamnoon Hussain has summoned the session of the Senate to meet on Monday at 4:00 pm to discuss issues of national importance including the ongoing atrocities of Indian security forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President has been pleased to summon the Senate to meet in the Parliament Building, Islamabad, on Monday, the 18th July, 2016 at 4:00 pm", said a notification.
Whereas the National Assembly session has been summoned to meet on August 08 at the Parliament House at 5:00 pm to discuss important issues, besides taking up legislative business. According to a notification, the President summoned the National Assembly, approving a summary forwarded by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs containing Prime Minister's advice.
Seven new bills will be introduced in the Senate on Monday namely the Protection of Economic Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2016] by Senator Saleem Mandviwala, the Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace (Amendment) Bill, 2016 Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, the Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-smokers Health (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by Mushahid Hussain Syed, the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by Azam Khan Swati, the Senate (Election) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 Azam Khan Swati and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by Karim Ahmed Khawaja.
The Upper House is also expected to pass a bill the National Accountability (Amendment) Bill, 2015 by Senator Taj Haider to amend the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
Saleem Mandviwala, Chairman, Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization, will also present report of the committee on the Bill further to amend the Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) Ordinance, 2001 [The Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) (Amendment) Bill, 2016].
He would also table report of the committee on the Bill further to amend the Credit Bureaus Act, 2015 [The Credit Bureaus (Amendment) Bill, 2016] before the house, besides presenting report of the committee on the Bill further to amend the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997 [The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2016].
Mandviwala will also present report of the committee on the issue pertaining to salaries and allowances of the Election Commission of Pakistan, referred by the House on 9th June, 2016.
