Panama leaks, other issues: Imran calls meeting of PTI's senior leadership on 20th
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has called an important meeting of the party's senior leadership on July 20 (Wednesday) to discuss future strategy related to Panama leaks and other important issues.
Soon after returning from London, the PTI sources said that Imran Khan called all the senior leaders to Islamabad for consultation on Wednesday regarding the party's future line of action following failure of the parliamentary committee on Panama papers to formulate consensus terms of references (ToRs) for inquiry commission.
A 12-member parliamentary committee constituted in May and comprised of representatives of both the opposition parties and the ruling alliance has failed to reach a consensus on the ToRs for an inquiry commission to probe into the allegations levelled in Panama papers.
However, the joint opposition, which also includes PTI, is calling for a joint strategy including launching of a protest movement to press the government to start investigation process from the Prime Minister and his family while probing the Panama leaks.
The PTI sources said that the party chief would consult the senior leadership on the expected protest movement, besides discussing other important issues.
Furthermore, the sources said that the meeting will also discus the expected names of the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), as the party would give its input to leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah for formal consultation process with the Prime Minister, a constitutional requirement.
