The Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Monday recommended appointments of three additional Judges for Balochistan High Court and two additional Judges for Peshawar High Court. The Judicial Commission's meeting was held in the Supreme Court with Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in the chair which discussed appointments of five additional judges in Peshawar High Court and four in Balochistan High Court.
According to sources, during the meeting, the Commission recommended names of Ibrahim Khan and Ishtiaq Ibrahim for their appointments as additional judges in Peshawar High Court whereas the names of Abdullah Baloch, Zaheeruddin Kakar and Syed Anwar Aftab were recommended for their appointments as additional judges in Balochistan High Court.
The meeting was also attended by four senior judges of the apex court and a representative of Pakistan Bar Council.
In pursuance of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, a judicial commission has been proposed to be created to recommend the appointments of Judges of the superior courts in Pakistan.
The Judicial Commission was constituted under the 18th Amendment in the Constitution which will send the recommended name of the Peshawar High Court and Balochistan High Court Judges to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges appointment for its approval.
