The country's towel export went down to $733.584 million in July-May 2015-16 by 0.48 percent, official figures say. The total towel export fall stands at $3.514 million in July-May 2015-16 from $737.098 million in July-May 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics suggests. Volume of towel export however grew by 3.37 percent or 5,385 metric tons to 159,596 metric tons in July-May 2015-16 from 164,981 metric tons in July-May 2014-15.
In May 2016, towel export came down to $68.572 million from $73.959 million in May 2015, down by 7.28 percent or $5.387 million. In term of quantity, towel export plunged by eight percent or 1248 metric tons to 14,785 metric tons in May 2016 from 16,033 metric tons in May 2015.
