Unseeded Humam Ahmad upset Muhammad Khan in a marathon 2-1 battle in the Under-11 and moved to the quarter-finals of the ongoing Abdul Sattar Edhi Memorial Junior Age Group Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Tuesday.
Humam Ahmad of PSB Mohib Ullah Khan Squash Academy upset no four seeded of PAF Squash Academy Muhammad Khan in a marathon best of three sets battle, the score was 9-11, 12-10 and 11-7. Now Humam will face Yaseen Khattak, also of the PAF Squash Academy. Another promising Ibrahim Mohib, Yaseen Khattak, top seed Muhammad Ammad, Raheem Abbas, Muhammad Hanif, and Abbas Nawaz were also marched into quarter-finals.
Upcoming Ibrahim Mohib recorded straight sets victory against his strong rival Zikria Pervez, the score was 11-7 and 11-9. Ibrahim Mohib of the PSB Mohib Ullah Squash Academy did not look behind and marched into victory with his superb cross-court and length shorts and some beautiful drops shorts were also witnessed. Top seed of the Under-11 category Muhammad Ammad beat Talha in straight sets while Raheem Abbas faced tough resistance against Abdullah Nawaz in three sets battle with Abdullah Nawaz won the first set at 10-12 but Raheem Abbas came back strongly and won two consecutive sets at 11-9 and 11-6.
Yaseen Khattak recorded victory against Mutahir Ali in straight sets, the score was 12-10 and 11-9, Muhammad Hanif beat Muhammad Rayyan by 2-0, the score was 11-7 and 11-8, Abbas Nawaz beat Roaid Asghar in straight sets, the score was 11-8 and 11-9, Shiraz Akbar beat Majid Khan by 2-0, the score was 11-8 and 11-6.
In the Under-13 category top seed Asad Ullah and second seeded Noor Zaman of PAF Squash Academy recorded victories against their respective rivals along with Ghulam Muhammad, Abdullah, Fahad Sharif, Shoaib Asghar, Talha Iqbal, and Waleed Khalil. Asad Ullah beat Jawad Hussain 2-0, Ghulam Muhammad beat Huzaifa Zahid 2-0, Abdullah beat Hamza Zahid 2-0, Shoaib Asghar faced tough resistance against Mubasir Ali in three sets battle, Talha Iqbal beat Waleed Zaman 2-0 and Waleed Khalil beat Ammad 2-0. Noor Zaman also played well and defeated Abu Zar in straight sets with some beautiful shorts were also witnessed from both Noor Zaman and Abu Zar, the score was 11-8 and 11-9 and Fahad Sharif beat Afaq Khan in straight sets.
In the Under-15 current No 1 ranking player of PAF Uzair Shoukat, a nephew of former world no. 10 Amjad Khan, took no time in eliminating Arbab Mehran in straight sets, the score was 11-9 and 11-8, Saqib Iqbal beat Saim Tariq of Abbottabad by 2-0, Zargham Khan beat Ali Sher by 2-1 in another thrilling battle, the score was 10-12, 12-10 and 11-9. In the other pre-quarter-finals matches Hamza Sharif beat Touseef Ahmad by 2-0, Ahmad Hassan beat Danish by 2-0, Mavia Hussain beat Wajid by 2-0, and Rashid Doulat beat Ammad by 2-0 and reached to quarter-finals. The quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday.
