In order to safeguard the rights of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and promotion of cottage industry in Pakistan, the SME Foundation has been formed, said the Chairman of newly-formed SME Foundation Pakistan Waliullah Khan. Khan, who is also the Chief Executive of SME Business Solutions, spelled out the aims and objectives of the SME Foundation at a press briefing here on Wednesday.
"We have decided to follow the dynamic mission of Abdus Sattar Edhi by creating an organisation for facilitating the needful requirements of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, hospitality, development of academic and professional education in Karachi as well as all over Pakistan under the name of "SME Foundation" registered with the Government of Sindh under Society Registration Act-1860.
The purpose of establishing SME Foundation is to promote SME sector and cottage industry in Pakistan as SME sector is really a backbone of Pakistan's industrial base, educating and empowering children, men, women and communities towards change by improving access to providing education especially professional education (Secondary / Graduation / Accounting / Management / Diplomas in CIT & DIT / Taxation & Corporate Law), health services and vocational training for their income generation.
"The focus is on community development through an integrated approach so as to alleviate poverty, illiteracy, ill-health and economic deprivation of the lower-income groups," he elaborated. The SME Foundation endeavours will focus on bringing the light of education for the growth and development of those living in remote and disadvantaged areas across Pakistan and to help them to make their career in the various fields and small industry.
