The 8th Junior Leaders Conference 2016 organised by the School of Leadership recently concluded in Karachi. The conference is designed for children between the age of 10-15 years, helping them to explore their leadership potential and give them insight into how they can become more productive and empowered adults. Each year, JLC brings together 200 participants from across Pakistan with experts, speakers, teachers, trainers, industrialists and celebrities.
The speakers act as mentors throughout the conference offering insightful guidance to the participants, facilitated by an energetic and enthusiastic team from SoL to help give participants the confidence and exposure to become future leaders. Celebrities who graced the occasion included notable thespian and television personality - Sania Saeed, along with music icon and social activist Fakhr-e-Alam, fashion designer Yusuf Bashir Qureshi. The various sessions were led by Shireen Naqvi, Umair Jaliawala, Waqar Ali, Uzair Ausaf and Rehan Allahwala.
The participants were also given the opportunity to learn from outdoor excursions which proved to be essential learning opportunities. The field trips provided hands-on experiences for the participants who learned about community-building and taking ownership and responsibility of social development.
A number of segments were designed specifically for parents, including a session with the famous Motivational speaker - Dr Moiz Hassan, which served as a workshop for responsible parents, to help them build stronger bonds with their children. The conference was led by Anmol Zehra, and was mentored by Kamran Rizvi - Director SoL, Umair Jaliawala, Founder and CEO of SoL- Shireen Naqvi and Waqar Ali - the Head of Youth Affairs at SoL.
