The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has marked a black day to express solidarity with the people of the Indian held Kashmir and condemned the atrocities there. The Lahore Zoological Gardens arranged a ceremony on Wednesday where the department's Director General, Khalid Ayyaz Khan, was chief guest.
He said the Pakistani people would continue supporting their Kashmiri brethren and "the day is not far when the Kashmiris will see their independence from India" and called for ensuring right of self-determination to the Kashmiris in line with the United Nations resolution on the dispute.
Another ceremony at the same venue acknowledged services of those employees who did their duties well during the Eid holidays.Director General Ayyaz Khan and the President of the All Pakistan Clerks Association Wildlife Department Unit, Malik Akhtar Ali Awan, spoke too.
The director general also assured that a demand by the All Pakistan Clerks Association Wildlife Department for regularisation of daily wagers and contract employees would be dealt with and a summary would be sent to high-ups. He then announced to increase a festival grant for the Lahore Zoological Gardens and the Zoo Welfare Allowance.
