Following a major breakdown of baggage handling system at Terminal III of Heathrow Airport, London, all the baggage of PIA flights - PK-788 and PK-786 were not loaded, creating immense difficulties for the passengers. The baggage handling system installed at Terminal III of Heathrow Airport faced a major breakdown that left thousands of pieces of check-in baggage behind, affecting all flights landing or taking off from the said airport.
A PIA spokesman said the national flag carrier and other airlines including Emirates, Gulf Air, Cathay Pacific, Virgin and dozens of other airlines had faced similar problem, due to a major breakdown of baggage handling system. He said around 700 pieces of baggage of passengers travelling on PK-788 and PK-786 could not be loaded on the aircraft and added that: "PIA regrets this inconvenience caused to passengers and is making all-out efforts to ensure that all the baggage are rushed on next direct available flights from Heathrow Airport.
