Pasban stages rally Limiting Rangers' powers to Karachi termed discriminatory approach

Limiting special powers of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) to Karachi only is a discrimination with Sindh, as criminals and killers also live in other parts of Sindh, which should also be nabbed, said speakers at a pro-Rangers' powers demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club (KPC), here on Sunday.
A large number of people, carryings banners and flags, participated in the demonstration, organised by Pasban. Speaking to the protestors, Pasban's vice president and president of its Karachi organising committee Tariq Chandiwala said that Pasban wanted similar criterion for enforcement of law in whole province of Sindh, including Karachi, without any discrimination. "Why the rulers of Sindh are opposed to the Rangers' action in other parts of Sindh," he asked if only 'angels' live in Sindh.
He said that extortionists, dacoits and target killers were being patronised in other parts of Sindh also and lasting peace could not be established even in Karachi without taking action against those criminals living out of Karachi.
Pasban vice president Abdul Hakim Quaid said that Karachi couldn't be ruled while sitting in Larkana.
"History shows that the only those nations have progressed that have ensured rule of law and did not discriminate between weak and powerful," he said adding that rulers had double standards on laws and their implementation.
He said that rulers themselves were afraid and they couldn't move without bullet-proof vehicles. He said that the rulers addressed rallies behind the bullet-proof glasses. He urged that criminal mafias should be eliminated from whole country including Sindh.
Pasban Karachi organising committee member Sardar Zulfiqar said it is necessary to make Karachi a separate administrative province.
"We reject the pressure to stop the Rangers from taking action again some criminal elements of the province," he said adding that discrimination in laws, trials and punishments should not be tolerated and actions against criminals must not remain limited to one city or one area. The protestors demanded an end to the VIP culture and double standard of law for the rich and poor.
