Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to China on Monday met with the Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli in Beijing and agreed on taking steps to further ties between the Communist Party of China and the Pakistan Muslim League-N.
The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister during his meeting with Shahbaz Sharif said, China is fully aware of the importance of Punjab with regard to economic cooperation between the two countries and therefore there is a dire need to further explore new avenues for strengthening bonds between the two political parties and all-out cooperation in this regard is thus necessary. The Chinese deputy premier on the occasion also wished good health to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on behalf of the Chinese leadership.
Shahbaz Sharif during his visit also said that the President of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang have played a key role in making China the second biggest economic power in the world and progress and development made by China is the result of hard working efforts of the Chinese communist party leadership and Chinese people.
He said he was asked in Pakistan what he was going to do in China and what 'shopping list' he had made to which he replied that there is no shopping list between friends and he was going to China to further seek Chinese cooperation for development in Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif said, he is at a loss for words to thank China for its cooperation - China has played its role at a time when Pakistan was facing terrorism and energy crisis. He said, earlier Pakistan and China were mere friends - but now our relations has gone even further. He said, that terrorism is a mutual enemy of both China and Pakistan and that the people, armed forces and government are on the same page to eliminate terrorism. Shahbaz Sharif also handed a letter from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed to the President of the Communist Party of China on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his meeting with members of the Communist Party of China praised the socialist ideology for the unprecedented progress in China. Shahbaz Sharif during his meeting with the Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli assured that all necessary steps are being under taken for the safety and security of Chinese workers in Pakistan and further said that on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Pak-China relations, there is further need to renew the pledge of mutual cooperation between the two countries for progress and prosperity of the people of the two nations. CM Punjab also said that China is Pakistan's best partner in transfer of Chinese industrial technology and joint ventures between the two nations in this regard will be enhanced.
According to a statement by the DGPR, that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his meeting with Madam Hu Xiaolian, chairperson of Exim Bank of China, was told that the fast pace of work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was very much appreciated.
Madam Hu Xiaolian during her meeting with Shahbaz Sharif, said that the term Shen-zhen (speed) was used for fast completion of projects in China, and today Punjab has left this term far behind in terms of rapid execution of projects in Punjab. She also assured CM Punjab that Chinese investments in Pakistan will further increase manifolds in the near future with help from Exim Bank on timely execution of projects in Punjab.
CM Punjab said, that Pak-China friendship has become an example all over the world and it is based on trust and transparency. He also thanked the Chinese financial institutions for playing a critical role in furthering Pak-China cooperation with development projects in Punjab.
Shahbaz Sharif thanked Exim Bank for their timely provision of finances for the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project and said the phrase 'Punjab Speed' in China refers to him - which is an honour not only for him but also the Punjab government and the people of Pakistan - and this speed will be maintained.
Shehbaz Sharif during his meeting with Song Tao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China in Beijing and told him that ties between the Communist Party of China and Pakistan Muslim League-N are ideal exchange of delegations at the party level in Pakistan will be welcomed and it is his desire that maximum number of youth delegations of PML-N visit China. Song Tao assured Shahbaz Sharif that China will stand behind Pakistan in every hour of need.
