Nine food outlets, including milk shops, have been sealed off after being charged with violating the rules of hygiene and adulteration. Teams of the Punjab Food Authority carried out their raids on Monday as part of attempts to improve cleanliness in restaurants and shops.
The Shalimar Town team sealed off the Liaquat Bakery of Begum Pura and the Sufi and Farooque bakeries for using substandard tomato sauce and sleaziness. Its Samanabad Town counterpart too took milk shops to the task and during inspection closed down the Ashraf Gujjar Milk Shop and Mehar Doodh Farosh because of poor milk quality and storing it in bluecoloured drums that were used instead for keeping chemicals. The Madni Milk Shop of Bakkar Mandi was also sealed off for selling adulterated milk. The same team also did the same to the Sheikh Store, a distributor of food items, for lacking business license.
