A parliamentary panel on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over missing of inquiry files filed against corrupt officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the owner of the Diplomatic Shuttle Services. A Sub-Committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) grilled the Chairman CDA over out of the way contract offered to an alleged fake company to run Diplomatic Shuttle Services for nearly eight years.
Chairman CDA contending the case said that they cancelled the contract and advertised for the provision of Shuttle Service again. He, however, did not know that a case was registered against the company following the directive of the PAC. The committee was further informed that the Diplomatic Shuttle Services was not registered with Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The contract was awarded in 2007.
In the previous regime of Pervez Musharraf, the Shuttle Service was started for citizens to go to the Diplomatic Enclave but then Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari and Member Finance had not taken the security clearance of the private company before awarding it the contract. Many other CDA officers were found involved in the matter.Firstly, the PAC ordered an inquiry in 2013-14 against the illegal contract. Colonel Arshad Naseem conducted an inquiry into the matter. However, the file went missing from the CDA. Later, a second inquiry report was made but it also went astray.
