ISTANBUL: Turkey's lira firmed on Thursday supported by what traders said was growing optimism about an improvement in Turkey's relations with the United States and the European Union.
The lira firmed to 5.9951 by 1230 GMT, from Wednesday's close of 6.1105.
The lira has fallen 37 percent against the dollar this year on concerns over President Tayyip Erdogan's grip on monetary policy a diplomatic row with Washington. Erdogan was in Germany on Thursday after a trip to the United Nations in New York, where he met US President Donald Trump.
