Flood water kills 26 wedding guests

As many as 26 persons of a wedding procession including 18 children and six women died when their pick-up was swept away by the flood water and flung into a gorge in Tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency. The dead included 18 children and six women. According to the political administration of Khyber Agency, the ill-fated Datsun pick-up was on its way from Khasroko area to Anee village; it was swept away by gushing water when crossing a water stream in Sra Shaga area near Bazar Zakhakhel of Landi Kotal.
The heavy downpour in Khyber Agency on Saturday have suddenly raised the surface of water in the said nullah and the pick up when entered inside the nullah, was washed away by the gushing water in jiffy. The officials of political administration and Khasadar Force rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies from the nullah. Later, the bodies were handed over to their relatives and buried at ancestral graveyards amid moving scenes.
