"The Pakistan government has decided to garner global support against Indian atrocities in Held Kashmir," Pakistan's High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit told Business Recorder in an exclusive interview here on Saturday. "My visit to Islamabad is aimed at evolving a comprehensive strategy in consultation with the Foreign Office, Prime Minister Secretariat's senior figures in the Foreign Office and the General Head Quarters of Pakistan Army," he said adding, "very soon the government would announce a comprehensive plan to garner global support and the support of different world organisations and International Human Rights Commissions."
He said Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir are on the rise after the protests against the killing of freedom fighter Burhan Wani engulfed the valley for a second week. The death toll from clashes between protesters and security forces has swelled to 56, while many others have been injured. Basit said people of Kashmir have been braving curfew and other restrictions for the last 17 days and still pin no hopes on the betterment of the overall situation.
Over 5,000 people have been injured due to excessive force used by Indian troops and police on peaceful protesters. A number of All-Parties Hurriyet Conference leaders have also been detained in the same period. Basit agreed with Business Recorder's earlier report that current brutal policies on Indian military is dragging the region to a dangerous zone where the regional peace and security could be endangered.
