Expressing its dismay over National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) lacklustre performance in relation to an investigation into Rs 6 billion advertising corruption scam in Sindh on Tuesday, the Supreme Court allowed Inam Akbar, the owner of an advertising company, to travel abroad.
Resuming the hearing of the matter, a two-member bench of Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that NAB is apprehending only those who are involved in tiny frauds while big fishes are still at large.
Responding to a court's query why the name of former provincial information minister Sharjeel Memon was not placed in Exit Control List (ECL), the NAB Prosecutor General submitted that Memon managed to escape before his name could be placed on ECL.
Turning down the NAB's report, the bench accepted the plea of Inam Akbar's counsel and allowed his client to go abroad for 15 days.
Later, the hearing of the matter was adjourned for two weeks.
