A high-level meeting held here in Assembly Secretariat with Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asad Qaiser in the chair has evolved consensus on demanding the devolution of Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) to the province. Besides, Senior Minister Shehram Khan Tarakai, Commissioner Mardan, Zakir Hussain Afridi, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Swabi, Matiullah Khan, Chairman, Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB), Faridullah, Secretary PTB Attaullah and other senior officials, the representatives of tobacco companies, growers, agricultural experts and officials of the departments concerned attended the meeting at large.
The meeting discussed resolution of problems faced by tobacco growers in the province. The meeting remained continue for several hours discussed in detail various matters and problems faced by tobacco companies and tobacco growers. After detailed discussion the meeting decided on the proposal of the Speaker, Asad Qaiser decided the passage of a resolution from provincial assembly regarding the handing over of PTB to provincial government during the current session.
During the meeting, the Speaker, Asad Qaiser and Senior Minister for Health, Shehram Khan Tarakai developed consensus on the issue that the handover of the PTB to provincial government will help resolve the problems of tobacco growers with their concerned tobacco companies in better manner at local level.
