The Karachi Port handled 333,609 tonnes of cargo comprising 270,937 tonnes of import cargo and 62,672 tonnes of export cargo including 5,795 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday The total import cargo of 270,937 tonnes comprised of 77,563 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,212 tonnes of general cargo; 61,562 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 53,172 tonnes of coal; 578 tonnes of soyabean meal; 2,281 tonnes of DAP; 5,531 tonnes of rock phosphate and 130,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 62,672 tonnes comprised of 62,618 tonnes of containerised cargo and 54 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 5,795 containers comprising of 3,028 containers import and 2,767 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,184 of 20's and 914 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 8 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 905 of 20's and 259 of 40's loaded containers while 374 of 20's and 485 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely Cosco Wellington, Cosco Sao Paulo, Fowairet, Wan Hai-501, APL Cyprine, Leyla-K, Formosa Falcon, Ocean Gladiator, JS Rine, New Age and African Glory carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Hyundai Colombo, Uni Prudent, Hanjin White, YM Orchid, Advance-II, Al Salam-II, Argent Freesia and Ever Precious carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Hanjin White, Uni Prudent, Olympic Pioneer and Positive Passion carrying containers, coal and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Hyundai Colombo carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Castor-N, Positive Passion and Jin Han carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while five vessels viz. Taroko, Aligote, Privaegean, Hankuk Chemical and IBI carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 86,902 tonnes comprising 54,203 tonnes of import cargo and 32,699 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,795 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 54,203 tonnes includes 3,523 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,070 tonnes of palm oil; 226 tonnes of general cargo; 1,170 tonnes of coal; 14,856 tonnes of canola seeds; 5,100 tonnes of chemical and 18,258 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 32,699 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,795 containers comprising of 1,406 containers import and 1,389 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were two ships namely CV Hermes and MV BBC Shanghai carrying containers and general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely CV Northern Monument, CV Castro-N and MT Bhai Ravi carrying containers and oil tanker are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Northern Monument, CV Hermes, CV Busan, MV Diyaab, MV BBC Shanghai, MV African Glory, MV Glarus, MV Voge Challenger, MT Bunga Akasa, MT Bhai Ravi and MT Evita currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, general cargo, canola seeds, palm oil, furnace oil and chemical respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Castor-N, MV Diadond Sea, MV Nassau Energy, MV JS Rhine and MT Chemroad Quest carrying containers, cement, chemical and furnace oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday. There were five vessels viz. CV ER Yokohama, CV Castor-N, MV KSL Dang Yang, MV JS Rhine and MT Chemroad Quest carrying containers, general cargo, coal and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Denver and CV CMA CGM Amazon carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV Conti Annapurna carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
