Nation must pledge for the economic sovereignty of Pakistan as the government has been following progressive economic policies in addition to inking CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) and other multinational agreements, said Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz president Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). He was addressing a function in connection with the Independence Day at FCCI complex.
He paid best tribute to visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other Muslim leaders who visualised the importance of a separate homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent. "They not only worked for this cherished objective but also achieved it in the form of Pakistan", he said and added that despite of geographical independence we being a Pakistani failed to contribute our positive role that is why Pakistan is still facing serious and multiple political and socio-economic problems even after the independence of 70 long years.
He said that both people and the government is responsible for this dismal situation adding that Pakistan will immediate start making progress as soon as we realised our national responsibilities. Commenting on the CPEC, he said that it is a unique opportunity for Pakistan to attain economic sovereignty. He said that the investment of 46 billion dollars in CPEC related projects and Gwadar seaport will open new avenues of progress and prosperity for Pakistan.
He urged upon the political and religious parties to shun their petty differences and take unified stand for a strong and stable Pakistan. He said that anti-Pakistan forces were hatching conspiracies to keep Pakistan and its people poor and illiterate. "We have foiled these conspiracies and would also frustrate the evil designs of our enemies who are hostile to our progress and prosperity. He said that Pakistan is a blessed country. "We have five main crops and hard working people. "We will get rid of foreign loans as soon as we managed to fully avail these natural resources", he added.
Underlying the importance of independence, Syed Zia Alamdaar Hussain senior vice president FCCI said that the people of held Kashmir and Bosnia are more aware of the meaning of independence because they are still offering sacrifices for their independence. He said that our forefathers had also struggled and got independent homeland for us. "They provided us an independent piece of land, but we failed to manage its affairs properly that is why we are dependent on IMF, World Bank and other donor agencies.
Former president Engineer Rizwan Ashraf lauded the efforts of our forefathers who had laid down their lives during independence movement. Similarly, the Pakistani who brought laurels to the nation and country because of their deeds in different sectors of life are also "heroes of Pakistan" and we salute them. He said that 14th August is a day to refresh our commitment. "The commitment is not with anybody else but it is with our own self that we will divert our all out efforts for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Khawaja Shahid Razaq Sikka president Anjuman-e-Tajran city Faisalabad said that nation is observing the event of 14th August with heavy heart because of the Quetta carnage in which more than 100 people were martyred. He said that the objective resolution should be our ultimate objective and especially during the Independence Day celebrations, we must make a commitment to donate our lives to achieve this objective.
