In order to address complaints related to corruption, an anti-fraud helpline is being established at Sindh Governor's House. The anti-corruption facility will be set-up in collaboration with Transparency International, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other organisations. This was stated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan while addressing a handover ceremony of Rs 151 million embezzled money retrieved by NAB Sindh from different government departments.
Director General NAB Lieutenant Colonel Siraj-Ul-Naeem (Retd), Provincial Ombudsman Asad Ashraf Malik, Director General Audit Sindh Azhar Syed, Secretary Information Ejaz Memon, and other departments' secretaries were also present on this occasion. Ishrat said that all departments have to play their positive role to eradicate the menace of corruption from the country. He said 80 percent corruption can be removed if government officers improve discipline within their organisations. He also asked the officials to ensure utilisation of development funds in fair and transparent manner. He praised the NAB Sindh for its ongoing efforts particularly for eradication of corruption and recovery of land from the land grabbers in the province.
DG NAB Sindh on this occasion said the watchdog this year retrieved Rs 1.3 billion from corrupt government officials, besides arresting 100 people on charges of the same head. He said the Bureau has also recovered 0.55 million acres land from mafias in the province.
