Punjab Chief Minister and Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that a large number of Pakistanis living abroad were ambassadors of country and the efficiency of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, set up for resolving their problems, remained commendable in serving.
He said that there was a need to expand the good work which commenced from Punjab and expanded to the whole country. He said that Overseas Pakistanis Commission was performing its responsibilities with commitment and hard work and if other institutions of the country also display the same spirit, the situation would change in weeks and not years and all challenges and problems being faced by the country would be overcome.
The Chief Minister announced setting up of one-window station in those districts which have a large number of people living abroad. He stated different institutions were to be set up in one-widow stations where problems of Overseas Pakistanis would be resolved under one-roof. Shahbaz Sharif further said that all-out resources would be provided for this purpose while the High Court will be contacted to consider setting up of separate courts to deal with cases of Overseas Pakistanis, he added.
He expressed these views while addressing a function in connection with the first anniversary of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab and Independence Day at Chief Minister Office, here Tuesday. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Chaudhry Sher Ali, Hameeda Waheed ud Din, Vice Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Captain Khalid Shaheen Butt(Retd), Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, senior officers of the Punjab government as well as a large number of Overseas Pakistanis were present there. He said that it was a very important day as the first anniversary of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, established for the benefit of Overseas Pakistanis was playing a vital role in strengthening of national economy.
The Chief Minister welcomed Overseas Pakistanis who were present on the occasion and said that the function had been arranged to celebrate the first anniversary of such an institution which was working without any Safarish or corruption for redressing the grievances of Pakistanis living abroad.
He said that whether it was Britain, America, Norway or any other country, hundred percent elimination of corruption was not possible. However, he said, in those countries there was supremacy of law, which took its course over any wrong doing. The Chief Minister said that work was continuing speedily on 3600 megawatts gas-based power projects in Punjab and these projects are an example of standard, austerity and transparency.
Chief Minister thanked Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary, Vice Chairman Captain (Retd.) Khalid Shaheen Butt, Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti and the entire team for their efforts with regard to establishment of the commission. He directed Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to contact High Court for setting up of separate courts for immediate decisions of the cases pertaining to overseas Pakistanis. Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti informed about the performance of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab and said that it received about four thousand complaints, out of which two thousand had been addressed.
He said that the Commission was fully benefiting from information technology and its committees in various districts were working actively. He said that the measures being taken by Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab for resolving the problems of overseas Pakistanis were being appreciated all over Pakistan and full cooperation had been extended to Azad Kashmir government in response to its request for setting up such an institution.
