DUBAI: The lowest offer in the international tender from Iraq's state grains buyer to purchase at least 30,000 tonnes of rice was $562.75 a tonne, on a cost, insurance and freight (CIF) basis to be sourced from Argentina, traders said on Monday.
No decision about the purchase has been taken yet. Offers have to remain valid until Oct. 7.
Traders said the following offers were made in dollars per tonne:
Teriyaki: two cargoes each 30,000 tonnes of Argentinian rice at $564.70.
Saif: 30,000 tonnes of Uruguay rice at $575, 30,000 tonnes of Paraguay rice at $610.
ADM: two cargoes each 30,000 tonnes of Argentinian rice at $562.75, 30,000 tonnes of US rice at $633.
*VA Intl Trade: 30,000 tonnes of Argentinian rice at $555.60.
Hanalico: 60,000 tonnes of Uruguay rice at $566.60.
