Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) has so far disposed off 13% cases in favour of insured claimants (policy holders) in the form of claims settlement worth rupees 105 million to aggrieved policy holders during first six months of current year.
Total numbers of complaints have surged to 417 during first six months of this year against only 144 complaints in the same period last year, registering a 65% significant increase. During the year 2016, so far, the Federal Insurance Ombudsman secretariat has received 417 fresh complaints while 9 were carried over from 2015.
The orders of the FIO only in 3 cases were challenged through reviewed representation mechanism to the President of Pakistan who is final appellant authority. The President upheld the judgement and rejected the appeal against the orders of the FIO. On the plus side, there was significant increase in number of complaints. FIO registered 176 new complaints in first quarter of 2016, as compared to corresponding period last year that is a clear manifestation of confidence reposed by the aggrieved insurance segment and of a growing trend in complaint registration. Result is a testament of the FIO's commitment to provide speedy and free justice preferably with the approach of amicable settlements, and passion to achieve highest level of expeditious processing of complaints in all stages of proceedings till the disposal of the case.
The achievement affirms FIO's dedication since FIO has a strategic priority and commitment to strengthen and maintain the effective mechanism of dispute resolution for policy holders.-PR
