Revamping of four teaching hospitals: Punjab government spends Rs two billion

The Punjab government is spending Rs 2 billion on revamping of four teaching hospitals in the province which would be completed during the current financial year. Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmed Shah stated this while speaking at a kick off ceremony held in connection with the implementation of revamping plan on Monday.
Under the plan, four teaching hospitals including Jinnah Hospital, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi and Children Hospital Multan would be revamped during current fiscal year, he said. Najam Ahmed Shah said work has been started from Emergency Department of Jinnah Hospital where a lot of steps have been taken for improving patients flow in the emergency department. The token system has also been introduced for this purpose while separate counters have been set up to facilitate the patients, he added. Doctors will be available on these desks but serious patients will be referred to the emergency ward.
