The Karachi Port handled 145,046 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,165 tonnes of import cargo and 27,881 tonnes of export cargo including 6,421 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday The total import cargo of 117,165 tonnes comprised of 52,905 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,833 tonnes of general cargo; 28,033 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 21,800 tonnes of coal; 6,233 tonnes of DAP and 27,394 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,881 tonnes comprised of 23,261 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo and 4,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,421 containers comprising of 3,585 containers import and 2,836 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,036 of 20's and 1,149 of 40's loaded while 3 of 20's and 124 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 586 of 20's and 374 of 40's loaded containers while 320 of 20's and 591 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Batam Trader, X-Press Kailash, Hyundai Confidence, Nassau Energy, Jin Sheng and Amis Fortune carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. YM Excellence, Cape Marin, MSC Imma, Chemroute Sun and Klektra carrying c, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely KMTC Mumbai and MSC Imma carrying general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Cape Marin carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday. There were three vessels viz. Kota Kaya, MOL Dominance and Salzgitter carrying containers and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while three vessels viz. Kota Lembah, Cevdet A and Mito carrying containers, chemical and steel respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 116,810 tonnes comprising 84,803 tonnes of import cargo and 32,007 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,278 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 84,803 tonnes includes 27,940 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,380 tonnes of chemical; 3,255 tonnes of LPG; 9,499 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 39,803 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,007 tonnes includes 14,052 tonnes of cement and 17,955 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,278 containers comprising of 2,091 containers import and 945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely CV Northern Magnum and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Northern Magnum, CV MSC Antalia, CV MSC Leanne, MV Alam Moler, MV Golden Trader-1, MV BBC Ontario, MT AS Orelia, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Quetta and MT Globe Tanya currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean seeds, chemical, furnace oil and LPG respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as five ships namely CV MSC Meava, CV Northern Jamboree, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Shaybah and MT Bahra carrying Containers and diesel oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Northern Jamboree and MT Lahore carrying containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were five ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Uni Florida, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MT BBC Kimberley and MV Mu Da Song carrying containers, project cargo and general cargo due to arrive on Wednesday.
