Knowle-dge-based textile sector has become imperative to maintain the inherent edge of our textile sector in international markets, said Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). Talking to the students, during project's display by the final year students of the Department of Design, National Textile University (NTU), he said that decline in textile exports is a matter of concern and in this connection our younger generation must exploit their mental and creative faculties to maintain the supremacy of Pakistani textile with their innovative products. He said that the students of NTU should be fully aware of the international trends in their respective field so that they could cater to the needs of the potential buyers particularly from the developed countries.
Appreciating a girl student who has prepared an anti-allergy dress, he said that on the same pattern we must produce new products which could have demand within as well as outside the country. He also expressed satisfaction over the performance of NTU students and said that it is encouraging that creative students are getting full support from the textile sector of the country.
Earlier, Muhammad Nawaz was briefed about other projects displayed in this event. He was told that another student of the university has developed a wrinkle and stain free bed sheet, yet another girl student has designed a traditional Kurta-Shalwar with innovative design and three private companies have offered to purchase her designs to market the same with their own brand.
He was further told that a private firm from Sialkot has offered consultancy to a girl student who will design colour matching for the football to be exported to the international markets. Shahzad A Sheikh of Arshad Group inaugurated the project display while it was also attended by Rector NTU, Dr Tanvir Hussain, Registrar NTU, Zafar Javed and Head of the Department Mr Umer Hameed in addition to leading business tycoons of the city.
