deaths-lahoreLAHORE: The deaths from spurious drugs at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) have risen to at least 122, the media reported on Tuesday.

On Monday, two more cardiac patients died of medicine reaction taking the figure of deaths to 120, but the Punjab health department insisted the figure had reached 94 so far.

A 51-year-old patient died at the Services Hospital from reaction caused by medicines given free at the PIC. She was identified as Mumtaz Ibrahim, a resident of R.A. Bazar of Lahore.

Separately, a 55-year-old patient Hajirah Bibi died at the Mayo Hospital.

The Punjab Health Department has, so far, confirmed the deaths from the medicines reaction at 94 but the independent statistics show the figure had touched around 122.
