Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar on Monday evening confirmed that he had received no fractures or suffered any internal bleeding following his car accident on Sunday night. Sattar was injured Sunday night after his car crashed near the Nooriabad Police Sation at the Super Highway on Sunday when he was returning to Karachi from Hyderabad.
"Sattar was on his way to Karachi from Hyderabad when his car overturned after colliding with barriers placed on the road," Khawaja Izharul Hassan, who was with him in a separate car at the time of the accident, had said earlier.
Sattar received injuries to his head, back and shoulders and was taken to a private hospital.
But, speaking exclusively to a private TV channel from his hospital room in Karachi, Sattar said his vehicle flipped over five times on the Highway after it hit the barriers. "I have no fractures or any internal bleeding. My joints hurt a little but, Insha Allah, I hope it will improve soon," he said. "The unity [of party workers] is the solution to their problems as well as lasting peace in Karachi," he said in a message to party workers and supporters.
Sattar said he would return to work as soon as he can after he is discharged from the hospital.
A spokesman for the hospital where Dr Sattar is being treated said they were satisfied with the health of the MQM Pakistan leader.
In an earlier press conference held on Monday, Liaquat National Hospital(LNH) spokesman Anjum Rizvi said Sattar had not received any major injuries. His blood tests were positive, so were his MRI and CT scans, he added.
A 12-member medical team of doctors is taking care of Sattar, he said. "His will be discharged after 72 hours after the team monitors his vital body organs and body movements," he said.
