The Karachi Port handled 115,677 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,355 tonnes of import cargo and 12,322 tonnes of export cargo including 6,226 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 103,355 tonnes comprised of 48,769 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,020 tonnes of general cargo and 47,566 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo comprised of 12,322 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 6,226 containers comprising of 3,913 containers import and 2,313 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 589 of 20's and 1,558 of 40's loaded while 6 of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 335 of 20's and 214 of 40's loaded containers while 264 of 20's and 643 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Cape Marin and Kota Karim carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. YM Orchid, Kota Karim, Sima Giselle, MOL Explorer, Cosco Izmir, UAFL Zanzibar, SeaScout and Zi Jing Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely SeaScout, Al Mahboobah and Bao Resource carrying oil tanker, chemical and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Cosco Izmir carrying containers respectively is expected to sail on Friday. There were five vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, Xin Xu Zhou, Aeolos, Evangelia-L and Ping An Song carrying containers steel and general cargo due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. Al Abdali, Wide India, Hyundai Tacoma, HS Chopin, Asia Zircon-1, Helios Highway and Aaron-N carrying containers, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 79,841 tonnes includes 7,017 tonnes of palm oil; 796 tonnes of project cargo; 6,403 tonnes of coal; 12,254 tonnes of soya bean seeds and 53,371 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 39,729 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,920 containers comprising of 2,829 containers import and 2,091 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV MSC Silvana, MV Ping An Song and MT Atlantic Glory carrying containers, project cargo and chemical sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV MSC Silvana, CV Maersk Salalah, MV Ping An Song, MV Tahiti One, MT Vest Holmen and MT Atlantic Glory currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean seeds, palm oil and chemical during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Johar Express, MV BBC Holand, MV Aaron-N, MT Globe Tanya, MT Gas Husky, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Saverna Kaeri, MT Bunga Akasa and MT Ratna Blessing carrying cement, project cargo, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Corneille, MV BBC Holand, MT Globe Tanya, MT Gas Husky and MT Ratna Blessing carrying containers and cement, project cargo, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV CMA CGM Corneille, CV MSC Paris, CV MSC Lucy and MT Gasloc Sydney carrying containers and LPG due to arrive on Thursday.
