Following the directives of courts, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced to pursue investigations of the cases wherein an amount over Rs 100 million is involved. This was decided by chairman NAB while chairing performance review meeting held at NAB Karachi.
However in particular circumstances like in HESCO recovery case, suspicious transaction cases referred by Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) etc the pecuniary limit shall not bar NAB from proceeding against culprits, involved is less than Rs 100 million. Chairman NAB stressed upon Investigation Officers (IOs) to display high standards of investigations while proceeding cases registered at NAB and added that they should investigate cases through Combined Investigation Team (CIT) rather than investigating case single handedly.
He also emphasized to discharge duties within timeline, with professional acumen and honesty. While reviewing progress made on important cases, he directed to complete the cases to logical conclusion as per SOP and Law within given timelines. He said that NAB was going to host SAARC Conference on anticorruption in next week, which he termed as learning forum for sharing expertise. He also appreciated the performance of Karachi chapter and expressed his satisfaction over its overall working.
