As many as 1.3 million children under 5 years of age would be administered polio vaccine drops in the district during the anti-polio campaign which would be continued from 26 to 28 September and additional two-day would observed as sweeping days for administering the polio drops to the left over children due to any reason.
This was told by DCO Salman Ghani while inaugurating anti-polio campaign at backward Pakhtoon locality Millat Road near Lyallpur Colony. EDO Health Dr Nawazish Goraya, DO Health Dr Asif Shahzad, Dr Bilal, doctors and representatives of Pakhtoon localities were also present on the occasion.
The DCO said that the repeated anti-polio campaigns were being carried out to completely rule out the chance of polio virus. He urged upon the parents to get their children vaccinated during the anti-polio campaign for complete eradication of polio virus in the country. He directed the health department officers for effective monitoring of the campaign to achieve the 100% target.
DCO directed that polio teams should be present on static points at passengers transport stands, busiest intersection, markets, hospitals, motorway, railway station, recreational places and others sites.
He said no negligence would be tolerated during the National Campaign of Anti Polio and he would himself monitore the campaign on daily basis.
DO Health Dr Asif Shahzad informed that all necessary arrangements are finalized to implement the campaign and total 3,003 polio teams would remain active during the campaign for administering the polio vaccinate drops to the children of under 5 years throughout the district.
