Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar Khan has assured the business community that there will be no raids by Pakistan Revenue Authority (PRA) or the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on business centers. A trade delegation comprising President Rawalpindi Chamber Mian Humayun Parvez, Group leaders Sheikh Shabbir, Sohail Altaf, S.M. Naseem and former president Asad Mashhadi held a meeting with Haroon Akhtar Khan on the sidelines of RCCI Achievement ceremony.
During the meeting the delegation discussed the prevailing situation of raids and closure of business centers by Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the twin cities. Mian Humayun Parvez informed him that PRA should not harass traders in the name of tax collection. We have received complaints from traders that their business centers were raided and sealed without serving any notice. Chamber is the right platform to address such issues amicably, he suggested. Haroon Akhtar Khan assured the delegation that there will be no raids by PRA or FBR on business centers. All outstanding issues will be resolved through chamber platform and government will make sure that authorities will treat traders with respect and dignity. RCCI delegation thanked him for the cooperation and assurance in this regard and expressed hope that traders will not call strike in the city. Trade associations representatives, Sheikh Hafiz, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Chaudhry Iqbal and others who also were present at the ceremony hailed the assurance. Last week, trade associations' representatives held a meeting at RCCI and threatened a strike in the city on PRA authorities' behaviour.-PR
