Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) department has recovered around Rs 3.5 million on account of motor vehicle tax during its ongoing road checking campaign, which will be ended on September 29 (today). According to E&T officials, provincial E&T minister has announced to conclude ongoing road checking campaign on September 29, 2016 in Karachi during a meeting held at his office.
They said that some 12 checking teams were designated only in Karachi while 24 teams of E&T officers were constituted in other five regions of the province to kick-off road checking campaign across the Sindh. The meeting was also attended by Secretary E&T Dr Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui. The department has checked over 7000 vehicles in Karachi, around 3000 in Hyderabad, 3000 in Sukkur, around 1000 in Larkana, over 1000 in Mirpurkhas and some 700 vehicles in Shaheed Benazirabad and recovered Rs 3.5 million during this campaign. They claimed that department did not bear any pressure during the campaign and impounded vehicles and seized documents were released only after charging due taxes and fines. They further said that minister during meeting expressed his satisfaction over the road checking campaign, tax collection and performance of road checking teams and advised the officers to continue performing their duties with same spirit.
