The National Assembly was informed Thursday that Ministry of Law and Justice has so far not received information from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Lahore High Court, Lahore; Sindh High Court, Karachi and Peshawar High Court, Peshawar, on dual nationality of judges. Federal Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid informed the House during the Question Hour. He said the House would be informed after receiving information on status of dual nationality of the remaining judges and chief justices.
He said that chief justices and judges of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC), Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC) were not dual national as per reply received from the registrars of respective courts. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq deferred the question till the receipt of reply from the remaining superior courts of the country.
To another question, the Minister for Communications informed the House through a written reply that total number of Enemy Property/land in Sindh is about 200,335 acres. About 194,085 is lying in district Tharparkar. It was not a fact that the land gabbers had grabbed the Enemy Property Land, he added. The House was also informed that at present, average raw gas production was around 4,000MMCFD and the approximately constrained demand was around 6,000MMCFD.
Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also informed the House that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had reported that as on 22-09-2016 an amount of Rs 4,693 million were overdue receivable from IPPs on account of RLNG, while an amount of Rs 8,021 million was payable to the Pakistan State Oil. The Minister for Communication informed the House that Motorways and National Highways collected Rs 2,214.36 million in police fine and Rs 276.62 million in weigh fine in 2013-14, Rs 2,403.29 million in police fine and Rs 418.75 million in weigh fine in 2014-15 and Rs 2,273.67 million in police fine and Rs 389.96 million in weigh fine in 2015-16.
The House was informed that all amount collected in fines on Motorways and National Highways was utilised as per approved summary of the Cabinet and Finance Division. The collected amount of fine, after deduction of operational and maintenance charges, was distributed equally among National Highway Authority and National Highways and Motorway Police, he added.
The Minister said that out of that amount given to National Highways and Motorway Police, 50 percent was allocated for road safety campaigns and traffic education, 25 percent for regimental and welfare of force and 25 percent for annual reward. He said the National Highway Authority utilised its share on maintenance of its road network.
