The newly-elected Chairman of Surgical Instruments Manufacturing Association of Pakistan (SIMAP), Jahangeer Babar Bajwa has said that all-out efforts would be made for the promotion of the industry and to resolve its problems.
Talking to reporters after assuming the charge of his office he said that surgical industry was facing serious problems due to the shortage of skilled workforce and it will be further deepen with the passage of time. There is a great need of collective efforts to cope with the shortage of skilled workforce to protect the industry from further crisis, he pointed out.
The SIMAP chairman further stated that Tevta is only producing electricians and motor mechanics which is healthy sign but on the other hand Tevta had totally ignore the surgical industry adding that we think that Tevta had no ability to work for the betterment of surgical industry.
Under the prevailing situation SIMAP was endeavouring to formulate a strategy for bringing the industry out of crisis enabling it earn maximum foreign exchange for the country, he said. He disclosed that SIMAP in collaboration with PSCIR has established a common facility centre which is successfully functioning and providing material testing facilities of international level to the local industry. A "Mini Display Centre" has also been established in Surgical Association with the concept of highlighting the ability and skill as well as to create awareness among the foreign visitors about quality standards, he said.
