The Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from the Petroleum Ministry and Ogra in a petition against proposed increase of 17 percent sales tax on oil products within fortnight. The petitioner, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, said that parliament did not give approval of 17 percent sales tax on POL products. He said it was against the constitution. He therefore requested the court to bar the government from collecting 17 percent sales tax on POL products.
