The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) on Monday strongly condemned the Indian armed violation of Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir by attacking two Pakistani border posts and calling that a 'surgical strike'. PESA paid glowing tributes to Pakistani troops who beat back the attackers and inflicted heavy casualties on them while warnings given by our three services chiefs about their preparedness to meet any aggression from India were also lauded.
"India could not have taken such a step without a nod from some other powers which should be taken as a warning as an economic offensive may follow the armed aggression," it said. This was observed in a meeting of the Executive Council of PESA presided by its Senior Vice President Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim (Retd), Lieutenant General Naeem Akbar (Retd), Air Marshal Masood Akhtar (Retd), former Justice Javed Nawaz Gandapur, Salim Nawaz Gandapur, Brigadier Mian Mahmud (Retd), Brigadier Arbi Khan (Retd), Major Farouk Hamid Khan (Retd), Major Akram (Retd), Dr Babur Zaheer-ud-Din, Brigadier Masud ul Hassan (Retd) and others were also present on the occasion.
The former military officers found it very encouraging that the Indian aggression has united masses as well as the politicians with their response looking like replay of the spirit of 1965. However, it was noted that India may stage more terror acts in held Kashmir or elsewhere to find an opportunity to blame Pakistan and divert the attention of international community from atrocities. PESA members were of the view that India has taken the step of attacking Pakistani posts after consent from some other powers which is obvious by the way western media covered the incident and problems. With a view to following international practice, it was decided to replace the term of 'Ex-Servicemen' from PESA's name with 'Veterans'. A formal notification will be issued after meeting certain procedural requirements.
