Nintendo might be working on playable Game Boy phone case
Nintendo is going old-school by trying to introduce a phone case that will turn smartphones into a Game Boy.
The video game company Nintendo has recently filed a patent for an innovative phone case that will turn the smartphone touch screen into a Game Boy with functioning buttons. The patent, discovered by SIliconera, was submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) back in March.

The images provided in the patent show that the phone case would be able to open up like a book and can fold over a smartphone showing off the Game Boy design. The square cutout in the case will service as the Game Boy screen and will have interactive buttons below it that will be completely usable with the touch screen, as described by The Verge.
Just like the original Game Boy, the phone case also has A and B buttons, start and select buttons and a directional pad. The L and R buttons present on the Game Boy Advance are not in the phone case, as per the pictures, according to Business Insider.
Though Nintendo, till now does not have any Game Boy software for iOS or Android devices, but with this patent, it might be possible. However, this patent is yet to be given approval, thus don’t get your hopes high.
