Message from Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization
I am pleased to know that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) have kept the tradition of giving Best Corporate and Sustainability Report Awards.
We live in a rapidly shrinking world. The move to global economy is accelerating, thanks to international trade agreements, advances in technology, communication etc. Business are adapting to these changes and the accounting profession must also respond to meet the future needs of clients, employers, and the public.
The accountancy profession occupies a key-place in the concept of accountability and transparency in the public and private undertaking. Hence, the profession plays a vital role in the economic development of any country. The profession will have to gear itself to pursue new levels of excellence if it has to acquire and retain the competency to identify problems, assess impact, develop solutions and effectively manage the changes that are expected to come its way.
I wish to extend my heartiest congratulations to both the accountancy bodies that have organized this event. For those who are not able to receive the award this year, I encourage them to further improve the quality of their annual reports and to the winners, I wish to extend my felicitation and hope that they will continue to achieve excellence in corporate reporting in the years to come. I extend heartiest felicitations to the winners of this Best Corporate & Sustainability Report Awards competition.
