Highlighting the challenges and opportunities in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), speakers at a seminar said the project would be a game changer in the region if government ensures transparency, dedication and honesty for its completion. The seminar titled "Challenges and Opportunities insight in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was organized by Event and Conference International (Pvt) Ltd in collaboration with All Pakistan Entrepreneurs Exchange (APEX) and Institute of Business management (IoBM), here on Saturday at IoBM.
Experts said that CPEC would be catalyst of economic change in country. "With new global alignments China has deep interests in Pakistan that would help the latter too," he said. They said Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is an opportunity for both countries which should be grabbed for better economic perspectives.
In his presentation, Head of Research and Business Development of China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC), Amir Khan said CPEC is basically connectivity between western China and Gawadar. He said 26 economic zones would be constructed across the CPEC. He said existing trade route between Europe and western China is 19132 miles which would be reduced by 50 percent after completion of CPEC.
Similarly, he said trade route between Middle East and western China is 12000 miles and distance would be reduced by 80 percent with completion of CPEC. He said CPEC is solution to resolve the energy crisis in Pakistan as 25000MW energy would generated under CPEC. Former country manager New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Ejaz Khan urged upon the government to create enabling environment for the human resource. "We have to see the fault lines of corruption in our system because government do not have transparency and honesty in its offices," he said.
