'Refund claims up to January 1, 2016 cleared'

All refund claims up to January 01, 2016 have been totally cleared while import containers are being cleared on the same day, said Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhry Collector Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad. He was addressing a meeting of the Office Bearers of various local Trade Bodies at Faisalabad Dry Port here today. It was organized by Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh, Chairman Faisalabad Dry Port Trust.
Addressing the meeting, Collector said that Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad is taking appropriate steps to facilitate the exporters and importers in addition to generating much needed revenue for the Government kitty. He said that in this connection, the customs staffs are very vigilant and the export consignments are being cleared within one hour after its arrival at this upcountry dry port. He said that this facility will continue while we are also taking steps to clear the export consignments of leading export houses at the door steps. He said that more innovative steps are in pipeline to extend the facility of Self Clearance. Under this scheme, the exporters could themselves clear their consignments without involving the clearing agent, he added.
Addressing on this occasion, Chairman, Faisalabad Dry Port Trust, Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh underlined the importance of import and export and said that immediately after taking over the charge of this office, he has taken a number of steps to remove the unnecessary procedural hurdles. "We have decreased the freight & other charges of FDPT to convince the exporters to route their entire cargo through Faisalabad Dry Port", he said and added that we are always available to the importers and exporters in order to resolve their day to day issues and this meeting has been specially arranged to brief them about the steps taken by the Collectorate as well as by the management of the FDPT. Commenting on the facility of Self Clearance, he told that a training session for the exporters is being arranged on this topic by the FDPT very soon so that they could minimize their expenditures by saving the fees paid to the clearing agents. Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh also thanked the Collector and said that he is very kind and fully cooperative with the importers and exporters and hoped that this cooperation will continue in the best interest of the country.
