Apropos a news item captioned "Power sector entities: Irregularities amounting to Rs 1trn unearthed" carried by Business Recorder on October 4, 2016, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) spokesperson has clarified that the total amount of financial irregularities in Wapda as reported in the Audit Report 2015-16 was Rs 571.063 billion. Out of this amount, a sum of Rs 378.001 billion pertaining to 98 Audit Paras has already been settled by the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC). The balance amount of Rs 193.061 billion is in the process of settlement with the office of Auditor General of Pakistan as per laid down audit procedure.
