Kissan Board Pakistan (KBP) Central President Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad has called upon the government to draft agricultural-friendly policies and ensure payment to sugarcane growers in order to save the farmers from different mental diseases. In a statement issued on Monday in line with the World Mental Health Day, Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad claimed that farming community suffering mental stress because of injustices by the officials of Wapda, revenue and police while late payment or non-payment by sugar millers and other millers add fuel to fire.
He alleged that the sugar, cotton and rice millers have to pay billion of rupees of the growers due to which mental diseases were on rise among the growers. He urged the government to ensure payment to the farmers to save them from these diseases. He also demanded that the government should take measures to set up psychological clinics and hospitals for psychiatric disease in rural areas.
