As many as 240 mourning processions and 200 majalis will be held amid strict security arrangements in the district on Yaum-e-Ashur. The main Taazia and Zuljinah procession of the city will be taken out from Imambargah Gohar Shah after Fajr prayers. The procession will cross its long traditional route from Session Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Shaheed road, Rail Bazar, Katra Bairwala, Dhajji road, Mohalla Qazianwala, Abkari road and will conclude at Imambargah Gohar Shah in the evening. Over one dozen processions of Tazia, Zuljinah, and Alam will join the main procession during its route.
Police and other law enforcement agencies have make foolproof security arrangements to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incident. Talking to APP, DPO Hamayon Masood said that all possible resources had been utilised to ensure peace on ashura. He said that heavy contigents of police would be along all processions. Scanning of routes before processions would be carried out and every procession would be monitored through CCTV cameras, he added. He said that personnel of law enforcement agencies would remain alert on roof tops of all buildings falling in the routes of mourning processions.
While, DCO jhang Ghazi Amanullah has put a ban on pillion riding on Yaum-e-Ashur and mobile phone service will also remain suspended on the day. Emergency has been declared in DHQ hospital and all tehsil level hospitasls. Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad has visited twice to review security arrangements in Jhang district. Rescue 1122 staff will be along all processions to deal with any emergency, said Dr Tariq Saeed district emergency officer.
