District Administration and Police have made fool proof security arrangements for 153 Processions and 26 Majalis to avoid any untoward situation during 10th Muharram-ul-Haram in Industrial City. Pak Army along with the Police and emergency institution observed Flag March. More than 6000 policemen and 2000 Raza Qaars have been posted, while Chowk Clock Tower & around all bazaars have been sealed till evening for 10th Muharram.
Meanwhile, a peace walk was held here to show the unity, solidarity and harmony among the aspects and determination of the district administration regarding maintaining peace on Ashura Muharram. Peace walk was led by Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha, RPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DCO Salman Ghani, CPO Afzaal Kausar, members of parliaments.
Three main Muharram processions were brought out peacefully in Iqbal Park Dhobi Gatt, Rajoa Sadaat Chiniot and Ali Masjid, Madina Town areas amid tight security to mourn the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, here Tuesday on 9th Muharram. A heavy police contingent had been deployed on the route and at the rooftops of the surrounding buildings. Civil defence volunteers, scouts and the cantonment peace committee assisted the law enforcement agencies. There were a large number of policemen on the roads leading to the procession and people from other sects were barred from going near or participating in the procession. Shops on the route remained closed.
At late night all procession concluding peacefully and no untoward incident took place.
According to details, Peace walk was attended by Haji Akram Ansari, Begum Khalida Mansoor, Haji Ilyas Ansari, Dr Najma Afazal Ex MPA Kh Muhammad Islam and peace committee members Syed Jafar Hussain Naqvi, Dr Iftikhar Hussain, representatives of civil society and citizens belonging to other walks of life participated in the peace walk which started from Main Imambargha Hussainpura Dhobi Ghatt and marched through Kotwali road, Bowana Bazar, Clock Tower Chowk and main rout of Ashura procession.
Divisional Commissioner said that all out resources are mobilised for ensuring foolproof security on Ashura Muharram. He mentioned that the Peace march depicted the sentiment of the society regarding maintaining the religious harmony and peace during the sensitive days of Muharramul Harram.
Comprehensive security measures had been made for smooth observance of Muharram and the parliamentarians has supervised all arrangements. Commissioner said under the directions of CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, divisional, district, police administration and parliamentarians are maintaining joint efforts for peace and harmony.
DCO Salman Ghani stated that the Control Room was working round the clock and the staffs were performing duty in three shifts for the monitoring of Muharram arrangements around the clock. He mentioned that 150 CCTV Cameras have been installed in different angles on important Muharram Processions and Majalis, which are linked with the control room of SSP Operation and Home Govt Punjab. He said that the representatives of health, Rescue 1122, TMAs, FESCO, SNGPL, PTCL, Civil Defence, Police, WASA, FWMC, Revenue and other concerned departments have been deputed in this control room.
