The Lahore High Court has granted bail to former chairman of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Zafar Iqbal Gondal, in six cases of corruption and misuse of authority. The high court had granted the same relief to Gondal last year as well. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), however, had filed an appeal before the Supreme Court against the bail order which remanded the case to the court for fresh decision.
The FIA had registered cases against Zafar Gondal alleging that he had violated EOBI's investment rules to buy lands in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi at exorbitant prices.
