I am pleased to note that the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), as the sole National Standards Body is participating to celebrate the International Standards Day on 14th October, 2016. Collaboration with the international community to commemorate such Internationally recognized events is highly appreciable, as it serves as a motivation for the domestic manufacturers to adopt standardisation and quality driven practices for bringing in quality culture in the country.
This years theme as given by ISO "Standards Build Trust" signifies the recognition of the fact that reliability and trust constitutes the fundamental ingredients for the success of the manufacturing as well as service sectors. Indeed standards make everyday life work. This year's theme provides us with an opportunity to re-assess the competitiveness of our products in International markets. Focusing conformance to international standards would ensure our products to better perform and will give our businessmen greater access in the global market.
Increase in Exports from Pakistan closely depends on the conformance of our goods and services to International Standards. This helps us promoting and creating consumer confidence in products thereby providing a much needed stimulus for growth of our economy. Conformity to standards also gives a competitive edge to the products by helping business concerns meet their customer's needs through focusing and optimising organisational and manufacturing process. I am sure that the Celebrations of World Standards Day would support much needed awareness raising initiatives about the importance of standardisation in this era of competitive challenges for the government, business community and industry for assuring consumers' satisfaction worldwide.
I wish all the success to PSOCA & Ministry of Science & Technology in its future endeavours. The present government remains committed to support such organisations for enhancing the pace of our economic development.
