Divergent trend was seen on the money market on Tuesday as the rupee played both sides versus the dollar in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee inched up by two paisas against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.76 and Rs 104.77 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, shed 10 paisas in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.50 and Rs 105.70 respectively, they said.
The rupee also dropped by 25 paisas in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 116.00 and 117.50, they said. In the second Asian trade, the dollar took a breather from its recent gains, edging away from seven-month highs against a currency basket as investors took stock of US interest rate expectations in coming months. The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against six major rivals, slipped 0.2 percent to 97.711, after rising as high as 98.169 in the previous session, its highest since March 10.
The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 66.75, the greenback was trading versus the Malaysian ringgit at 4.2035 and the US currency was at 6.7400 versus the Chinese yuan. Inter bank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Tuesday: 78.40-78.40 (previous 78.40-78.40).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained under pressure against the major currencies in the local currency market on Tuesday.
The trading activity of the US dollar resumed on a positive note and registered surge during the day's trading. Following buyers' interest, the dollar ended higher at Rs 105.75 and Rs 106.00 on buying and selling side against Rs 105.70 and Rs 105.80 of Monday, respectively.
The rupee also maintained downward slide and declined against the pound sterling that was purchased and sold at Rs 128.80 and Rs 129.80 as compared to the day earlier closing of Rs 128.00 and Rs 129.20, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of rupee against the dollar remained unchanged at local currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 105 (buying) and Rs 105.10 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in evening session and closed at the same rates. Pound Sterling opened at Rs 132 (buying) and Rs 133 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 132 (buying) and Rs 133 (selling).
